Under The Horizon is here to serve. We are an individually owned pottery and arts studio that chooses to serve the community.

Children of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend, at no cost. CBAG does not provide therapy. Registration is required.

October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. Three out of every four families has some connection to domestic abuse. We are one of the three families.  We would like to share a small part of Donna’s story with you.

Donna was beautiful soul, a mother, a beloved daughter, and older sister.  She loved listening to the birds sing, pumpkins, strawberries, and collecting both Santa statues and dolls.  Donna had a huge heart and would be the very first to help.  She was an amazing cook and made the best homemade chicken noodle soup.

Many years back, she fell in love and got married.  The start of the relationship seemed normal.  Like everyone, she had her own personal issues.  Her husband also fought his own demons.  He became an alcohol-infused abuser.

As the years went on, the abuse escalated.  Like many abuse victims, she felt she couldn’t or shouldn’t leave.

At the hands of her abuser, Donna perished in a house fire November 2016.

In memory of the joy she brought us and the plight she did not escape, Under The Horizon has expanded our outreach efforts to further support victims of domestic violence.

Our efforts include:

  • Beginning 2017 – “The Annual Pumpkin Paint” a ceramic event where attendees enjoy painting fun fall ceramics.
  • Beginning 2019 – Creating and selling the “Strawberry Hope” Prayer Thumbprint©.  See www.PrayerThumbprint.com for more information or to purchase.
  • Beginning 2020 – Organizing a supply drive for Safe Home.  Safe Home is the local service for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.  Each month we will be collecting laundry detergent, gasoline gift cards, diapers, pull ups, baby wipes, baby bath soap, and feminine pads.

Outreach – Blessing Boxes

Under the Horizon and A/V Solutions, LLC have developed a program to book-end the amazing back-pack food efforts within the Upper Adams community to help eradicate hunger in local families during the long holidays and summer breaks.

Established in 2016, after seeing an important community need, Blessing Boxes has evolved into a 3-part program.  Blessing Boxes services food insufficient families over the school’s Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Summer breaks.  These times can prove to be a challenging time for families that are food insufficient.  The Blessing Box program gives children of food insecure families a food box during these long school breaks.
